TF2523 : Not a normal tree

taken 3 years ago, near to Spalding, Lincolnshire, England

Not a normal tree
Not a normal tree
There is something very odd about the tree seen in TF2523 : The London Plane Tree on the bank and TF2523 : Lower tree trunk.

One of the lower crucks is playing host to a Holly. Holly is not, so far as I know, a parasite. It looks to me as though this is growing in blown and settled debris trapped in the crevices between the main trunks of the Lime tree.
Trees and their trunks

There are many guides to tree identity on the web. But few concentrate upon the bark, the trunks, rather than leaves and blossom, and fruits. So this collection will do what it can to improve representation of the lower structures.
