Much of the low quality rough grazing here has been replaced by forestry. Plenty remains however and a quick look at the barbed wire shows that cattle have grazed here.
Thanks to the very wet Summer, the ground is waterlogged. There is also evidence of peat extraction here. I expect the Cromlix Estate was peat heated once.
