Ty Powdr/Powder House
This round bunker with walls 2 feet thick was the storage place for the explosives that were used to blast away the cliffs in order to quarry the slate. The rock is soft Llanvirn shale from Ordivician period (470 million years ago) which can be as crumbly as fruitcake.
