Dogfish (Scyliorhinus canicula ) in Porthgain harbour
The lesser dogfish, a common member of the shark family, spends most of its time on the sea bed where eats molluscs and crustaceans. It has a very rough abrasive skin and is sold skinned under the names of rock salmon, huss or flake, looking like a long white eel with an almost pinkish tinge. The fillets have a delicious soft, moist texture.
