Ffestiniog Railway train on the Cob
The dam enclosing the reclaimed land of Traeth Mawr in the Glaslyn estuary is known as the Cob. It carries the Ffestiniog Railway and a footpath. On the landward side, the A487 has been built immediately next to the dam. The buildings at the end of the dam are Boston Lodge works, the main engineering works of Ffestiniog Railway.
