Lagan Navigation relic at the Drum Bridge
Lagan Navigation relic at the Drum Bridge
This device, on the Drum Bridge J3067 : The Drum Bridge, Drumbeg, is, I think, a bridge guard. Bridge guards were installed to protect the masonry on bridges from friction damage by towlines and to protect towlines from sharp corners. Remember that barges were towed by horses hence “towpath”.
