This is the electricity sub-station for Scout Moor Windfarm which can be seen in the distance.
Electricity is exported to the National Grid via this newly built dedicated substation just off the main A680.
The windfarm consists of 26 individual wind turbines,each one generating 2.5MW.
In total the whole wind farm can generate 65MW enough power to supply the aveage needs of 40,000 homes.
