Two loaded cars wait at Laxey to begin the ascent of Snaefell. In 1961 the cars still carried the large roof boards advertising the attractions of the ride. These were removed in 1970 after the one on car No 5 caught fire, which spread throughout the car. Fortunately, no one was injured.
