The hall and grounds are much more stunning than this photo, taken on a very grey day, suggests. Herds of deer roam near the statue in the background. By far the best reason to visit Holkham is it's superb beach, which if you follow it far enough leads you to the brightly coloured beach huts of Wells-next-the-sea.
