While most of the uplands between Dylife (SN8694 : The Star Inn Dylife) and Pennant (SN8797 : Cottage at Pennant) are regularly grazed, this patch north of Dylife is rough moorland. The area is a narrow strip of high ground surrounded by deep valleys (SN8793 : Pen Cwm Twymyn, SN8693 : Nant Dropyns gorge): retrieving sheep from here would be a lengthy operation.
