On February 8th 2007 it was reported that East Yorkshire councillors had refused a planning application by Ridgewind Ltd to site twelve 100-metre high turbines here, which the applicants claimed would supply electricity for about 12,000 homes, or nine per cent of households in the East Riding. The main objection was that the turbines would be visible behind Beverley Minster in the view from Beverley Westwood.
