Flooded ironstone pit
On a headland on the west bank of Powdermill Reservoir. This headland, and the corresponding headland on the east bank, are composed of ironstone-bearing Wadhurst Clay. Both sides of the reservoir are pocked with old bell-pits and larger excavations such as this.
