Kilmeadan Railway Station
Kilmeadan Railway Station
This is the neat and tidy Kilmeadan terminus of the narrow-gauge Waterford & Suir Valley Heritage Railway, which runs on more than 6 kilometres of the former C.I.E. branch line between Waterford and Mallow via Dungarvan. The standard gauge line closed to all traffic in 1967 but this section was reopened in 1970 to serve a new mine in Ballinacourty near Dungarvan, but this traffic too closed in 1982 and the track was removed. The railway's website is here LinkExternal link and there is an undated photograph of the original railway taken from the same viewpoint as this one at the bottom of this page LinkExternal link
